  How much $$$$ will have been spent on the letter writing campaign to Russia?

  i have been following the jw chatter online about the letter writing that has been furiously undertaken by the jws around the world.

  a global effort done on the command of the gb in ny.. several jws have mentioned the cost of mailing letters (and packages of letters, where allowed) to russia and the cost is substantial.

  some jws have mailed dozens of letters.. the jw boast is that the russian postal system will be overwhelmed with letters.

  Hi,

  And this month's broadcast urging young ones to get baptized also is a sign of fear; fear of not showing growth numbers, and they're forcing this growth on the backs of children that cannot at all know what kind of contract they're getting into.

  Why would the leadership of this Org refuse to follow the example of Jesus on this regard has me so upset.

  In the Spanish JW congs, only the older JWs have this ignorant attitude. The younger generation is different, more accepting of the fact that these are individuals like any other.

  I'm glad the younger JW generation has progressed to understanding the LGBTQ community.

  Humans want to 'believe' in something; in the absence of religion, other causes receive the same attention and effort.

  We are wired to worship... even if it is the 'self, such as some celebrities do. Amazing!

  Has anyone here joined a different church after ditching the JWs?

  i am just curious.. i have a cousin who is a baptist and his church streams their sunday services and i've been checking them out before i go to meeting with my jw wife.. i haven’t been to a church except for the occasional funeral and wedding and the only sermons i had heard were the tel-evangelist type.

  anyway, all the church bashing by jws over the years made me unsure what to expect and i was pleasantly surprised.

  they do use the bible and they don't spend the whole time begging for money.

  i was raised in the religion and for the most part believed that my religion was truth.

  i recognized some mistakes were occasionally made but felt that nobody is perfect.

  then i smartened up and realized how dumb so many of the beliefs are....was there ever a time that you truly believed you had the "truth"?.

  Yes, I was a true believer once, all the way until the great 'overlapping generation' rectum derived doctrine.

  It's been downhill from there; and since one cannot unring a bell, I don't think my faith in the WTBTS can ever be restored.

  Any day now I will make it publicly known that I can no longer support this Org.

  Baptism at 10 years of age! March 2017 broadcast

  (i wanted to put this in the child abuse section of the forum!).

  we have seen that during the march 2017 broadcast, m stephen lett has openly praised children who get baptised as young as 10!.

  so lets summarize why it is wrong to push child baptism (not far off "infant baptism" that jws condemn other churches for).

  This is one of my pet peeves about the Org.

  Why do they refuse to follow on Jesus' footsteps regarding baptism?! This is only so that they could increase their numbers in the yearbook, oh, and a contro tool.

  The WTBTS has no moral ground in criticizing any religion about infant baptism. No difference whatsoever!

  God this practice makes me so angry! 😡

  A control tool for sure. Then they could hold over the young person's head anything with threats of withholding privileges for whatever stupid reason.

  STOP THIS UNCHRISTIAN PRACTICE ALREADY!!!

  hi all.. this is a reasonable question and would love to know what you think is having the biggest impact on watchtower.

  there is a plethora of websites talking negatively of watchtower.

  there are the never ending court cases regarding child abuse allegations.

  How many JW's believe to their last breath . .

  i can easily believe that thousands did all through the watchtowers glory years but especially after '95 the whole thing has been unravelling.

  kidding yourself to maintain family relationships and social networks is *somewhat* understandable in life but on your deathbed?.

  i think the demographic for jw's may actually get younger as time goes on.

  In my case, the minute I personally studied that magazine where they came up with the 'overlapping generations' version (1995), it all started looking and feeling like just men making stuff up as they went along.

  That was the moment when it was all over for me. From that point forward, I am here because I love my family and still care sincerely about quite a few of my friends, and know for sure I'll lose them if I jump ship completely.

  Although I must inform that this charade is becoming increasingly harder to sustain as old age is setting in.
